In South America, north of Argentina, lies Atacama, the highest desert in the world: a majestic expanse of sand and salt that changes colour with the seasons. Rain is scarce – Atacama is said to be the driest desert in the world – but just a few drops are enough to awaken the seeds waiting in the ground, and the soil is transformed into an explosion of pink flowers.

THE INSPIRATION for ATACAMA takes ALTAIA back to South America, where its story began over 150 years ago. There, on the border between Argentina and Chile, lies the driest desert in the world. There is very little rain – in some parts of Atacama it has not rained for over 500 years – but when the first drops arrive, the arid expanse is transformed into an extraordinary explosion of colours.

A wonderful metaphor for Love, which waits patiently for the kiss to awaken it.
